This 6-hour qualification course provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. Our most popular Mental Health first aid course, learners will know how to recognise and manage stress and understand the impact of substance abuse. They will also learn about the first aid action plan for mental health and be able to put it in place and know how to implement a positive mental health culture in the workplace.
This course will gain a learner a qualification awarded by First Aid Awards. FAA are an Awarding Organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation. The qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The qualification is assessed through a written assessment paper which the learner must successfully pass to be awarded the qualification.

What Level of learning is right for you?
Level 1: This introductory qualification course offers the primary teachings to understand first aid mental health training. It will offer an insight into how to signpost, and what the role of a mental health first aider entails.
Level 2: This is one day qualification course and is suitable for anyone wanting to feel more confident supporting others and gain awareness. You will know how to signpost appropriately and gain an understanding in a range of mental health conditions. This course is our most popular for workplace training in environments such as offices and shared workspaces.
Level 3: This comprehensive two-day qualification course offers an in-depth overview and will increase your knowledge around a variety of mental health issues including stress, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. After completion of this course, a mental health first aider you will feel confident as a first responder in crisis situations and know how to guide someone towards appropriate support. This course is most popular for more senior members of a team including supervisors and managers.
