Under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) Minimum Requirements Regulations all ships’ cooks and other persons processing food in the galley to be suitably qualified in food hygiene or food safety in catering. No matter the vessel, everyone working in a catering environment onboard a ship must undergo sufficient health and safety training. This qualification course is suitable for all yacht crew, including chefs and stews.

This course aims to equip learners with a knowledge of basic food hygiene practices that are essential while working in a commercial catering environment.
