Under the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) Minimum Requirements Regulations all ships’ cooks and other persons processing food in the galley to be suitably qualified in food hygiene or food safety in catering. No matter the vessel, everyone working in a catering environment onboard a ship must undergo sufficient health and safety training.
What food safety training do I need?
Level 2 food safety is the minimum acceptable level for catering staff and persons processing food in the galley on any type of vessel including tankers, cruise ships, yachts and merchant ships.
What does Level 2 food safety cover?

Will I receive a certificate?
